Help launch the Interdependence Project
in PDX with founder Ethan Nichtern!
With special emphasis on how mindfulness
meditation techniques awaken us to the truth of interdependence
and inform activist work as well as creative process, this retreat
will include in-depth meditation instruction to help us ground
our attention in the present moment. We then move from exploring
our minds on the meditation cushion to applying the insights,
clarity, and wisdom we gained to our own creative pursuits and
larger community concerns, such as climate change and peace activism.
With a new understanding of what binds us all, we gain the skills
necessary to positively change our relationship to ourself, our
friends and partners, our community, and our world.
Ethan Nichtern is
the acclaimed author of the book "One City: A Declaration
of Interdependence", and the founding director of the Interdependence
Project , a nonprofit created to bring meditation principles to
the arts, activism, environmental concerns, and responsible consumption.
A teacher of Buddhist meditation and philosophy for the past six
years, he currently teaches at New School University and lectures
regularly at Brown, Wesleyan, and New York universities.
