Have you ever wondered how legislation actually works? What is the process by which we—as mindful citizens—organize ourselves and engage our elected officials to enact change on a systemic level? For one example, The I.D. Project is currently investigating legislative options related to our Plastic Bag Initiative. We all need a better understanding of how our government actually works—what are its mechanisms and points of access? Join us for an engaging and insightful afternoon as Senator Schneiderman guides us through the landscape of New York State government. We will begin with a short sitting meditation. Open to all meditators and activists who want to get informed and get involved!

Eric Schneiderman (website) has been a New York State Senator since 1998, representing a large portion of New York City in the state government. A truly visionary and progressive thinker and activist, he is also a practitioner of yoga and mindfulness meditation. You can download his lecture on “Integral Activism” via iTunes or the I.D. Project podcast page.

- New York City Council Member Bill de Blasio

- New York State Assembly Member Brian Kavanagh

- New York State Senator Eric T. Schneiderman
