About the Interdependence Project

ID ProjectAn educational 501c3 not-for-profit organization, The InterDependence Project (I.D. Project for short) is a diverse project for folks interested in exploring their minds on the meditation cushion and applying the insights, clarity, and wisdom developed by mindfulness meditation techniques to a variety of applications in the world of arts, ecology, activism and community service. The I.D. Project offers various weekly and monthly Buddhist-inspired classes and meditation gatherings in NYC's East Village, as well as day-long workshops on a variety of topics from the world of contemplative trainings, meditative education, arts, and activism.

Consistent meditation practice has now been scientifically demonstrated to reduce stress, help individuals cope with addiction, and increase focus and awareness, as well as instill in the practitioner a greater sense of compassion and concern for fellow human beings. And what do we do with all these benefits? We apply them to our creative pursuits, our desire to serve our local community, and our concern for the troubled state of our global society.

So in addition to our weekly classes and workshops, download our weekly podcast, come on by for an arts group or show, check out our online magazine Sentient City, or participate in our responsible consumption and community activism work. Our service work focuses on: lessening our negative impact on our society, ecological issues, and pro-peace issues. Our arts work includes bi-annual art shows, a writers group, a theater group, a life-drawing group, and plans to include a film group and a musicians group. Sentient City Magazine accepts work of all genres as well as visual, musical, and film submissions.
